Hair, it is one of lifes little conundrums!  Sometimes we become frustrated because we don´t have any or enough in what we deem as the right place(s), other times we fret because we have to constantly remove it by shaving, waxing or plucking. This is time consuming and inconvenient at times to say the least! But overall, hair is one of lifes cosmetic essentials; the question is whether and where to have it, and in fact whether to and where not to have it.

Here at DepiCool we provide a simple solution to this question, we put you in the driving seat – and allow you to choose where and when you do indeed have hair on your body.

How do we do this I hear you ask?  Well it´s simple: DepiCool provides a hair removal and permanent hair reduction depilation service using ´Intensed Pulsed Light Treatment´, otherwise known as IPL.  IPL is similar to the well-known ´laser treatment´ but it is a non-invasive treatment and compared to laser, customers report less comparable discomfort during treatment, and it can in fact treat more skin ´Phototypes´ than conventional laser treatment.  Let me explain…

We are each unique as individuals, and like our finger prints – our skin also sets us apart from one another.  Some people have darker skin, others lighter.  This differentiation can be described by using a standardised system for classifying skin types, also known as ´Skin Phototype´.  By understanding your own skin Phototype you can determine whether or not IPL treatment is suitable for you.

These Phototypes are broken down into 6 simple categories, please see the chart below:

• SPT I – Always burns, never tans
• SPT II – Burns easily, tans minimally
• SPT III – Burns moderately, tans gradually to light brown
• SPT IV – Burns minimally, always tans well to moderately brown
• SPT V – Rarely burns, tans profusely to dark
• SPT VI – Never burns, deeply pigmented – cannot be treated with IPL

Laser treatment is an effective method of hair removal and permanent hair reduction for skin types I to IV whereas IPL is an effective method of hair removal and permanent hair reduction for skin types I to V, so in essence it is open to more people.
